Meet Lee Warsky

 

Lee Warsky was born in Australia and is a children's book author and writer. She spent her childhood on a farm, riding horses. After her dad left, a family acquaintance became her mentor, putting her through dressage lessons and taking her to pony club where she moved through grades very quickly, taking out Junior Club Champion in her first year, even though she started the season late. "I loved riding and thought it was going to be my career when I was younger," she has said. "I would spend every moment possible perfecting my riding. It was my life."

 

At night, she would read books. "Books allowed me to travel to places I couldn't afford to go. My childhood was about two things; riding and reading. It's all I did." Horses cost money, something she had very little of and she couldn't afford to pursue it after her mentor became terminally ill. "I owe my mentor so much. My drive, compassion, and competitiveness, all developed under her influence."

Lee has lived in Islington UK, the French Alps, Sydney, has spent a great deal of time in Chicago, and currently resides in South Australia with her girls, while the twins continue their studies in Sydney.
